The Shack

Fall 2004

One of the first photos taken of the Shack. Built up on the hill, out of the way from any future plans (or so I thought).
Overall dimensions are 12x18 with generous roof overhands. The backside is resting on ledge and the front is supported by a few boulders. I thought of digging footers for the front. Looking back I wish I did. Not that it has ever moved from frost heaves, but I expect someday it might.

While attempting to become as self-sufficient as possible I have used many resources and have found the web to be one of the most valuable. I'd like to return what information, experiences, and failures I have gathered and share it with others who may be attempting the same.
